This was time well spent cruising the different award winners.
Google maps we have used in my house for a long time, unfortunately the maps are not detailed enough to find the house I grew up in Austria (but my mother-in laws van can be seen parked outside her house!)
Picasa we are using as well at home, it's our free photo program and works just fine
Cocktailbuilders was fun, it brought back memories from one of my former lives as a bartender. ;-)
Kayak is a GREAT website for travel, it will compare all the other major sites as well with one click of the mouse - fantasticc!!
I will come back to it and look at other winners, so far this is one of my favorite exercises.

SandBox wiki - Thing 17
This is an hour of my life I'll never get back!
I had a hard time adding my blog, it still can't be accessed. Neither can my 'Favorite Austrian Foods' page I created (complete with link and recipe!).
Playing in the Sandbox? I think I rather go and play in traffic....

Wikis Thing 16
I finally know what wikis are!
I have used Wikipedia in the past for a quick reference, and I really liked the book lovers wiki. It was very easy to use and the covers of all the books reviewed are a nice touch (it gives it a book store feel).
The fact that many wikis look alike breeds familiarity, it makes them maybe a bit more user friendly.
A community wiki on the library site for one-stop-shopping is a great idea, it would put the library more in the center of community activities.
One drawback I see is that wikis are somewhat prone to being subjective, but we all know you can't believe everything you read on the internet. ;-)

Library 2.0 - Thing 15
Technorati - Thing 14
I don't think I will use Technorati in my work, at home or if I have time to spare.
But at least I know what it is. ;-)
