YEAH!
23 Things later I know a whole lot more than I did a few weeks ago.
RSS feeds? Flickr? Who knew?
And actually, it was fun exploring the net too (despite some complaints). ;-)
Will I use some of what I learned? Sure!
Would I participate in another learning program? Absolutely!
And it got all of us involved in the same thing - a fun experience in itself.
These are Sabine's thoughts - over and out.......

Downloadable Audiobooks - Think 22
I LOVE Project Gutenberg!
They have books in lots of different languages that you can read right on the computer - anytime, anywhere. Fantastic!!

You Tube 20
Everybody wants their 15 minutes of fame and you can find them all on YouTube!
I can probably find something better to do with my time, but I am sure it can be entertaining for some.

Web 2.0 Thing 19
This was time well spent cruising the different award winners.
Google maps we have used in my house for a long time, unfortunately the maps are not detailed enough to find the house I grew up in Austria (but my mother-in laws van can be seen parked outside her house!)
Picasa we are using as well at home, it's our free photo program and works just fine
Cocktailbuilders was fun, it brought back memories from one of my former lives as a bartender. ;-)
Kayak is a GREAT website for travel, it will compare all the other major sites as well with one click of the mouse - fantasticc!!
I will come back to it and look at other winners, so far this is one of my favorite exercises.

SandBox wiki - Thing 17
This is an hour of my life I'll never get back!
I had a hard time adding my blog, it still can't be accessed. Neither can my 'Favorite Austrian Foods' page I created (complete with link and recipe!).
Playing in the Sandbox? I think I rather go and play in traffic....

Wikis Thing 16
I finally know what wikis are!
I have used Wikipedia in the past for a quick reference, and I really liked the book lovers wiki. It was very easy to use and the covers of all the books reviewed are a nice touch (it gives it a book store feel).
The fact that many wikis look alike breeds familiarity, it makes them maybe a bit more user friendly.
A community wiki on the library site for one-stop-shopping is a great idea, it would put the library more in the center of community activities.
One drawback I see is that wikis are somewhat prone to being subjective, but we all know you can't believe everything you read on the internet. ;-)

Technorati - Thing 14
I don't think I will use Technorati in my work, at home or if I have time to spare.
But at least I know what it is. ;-)

RSS feeds & MERLIN - Thing 8 & 9
Okay, so I created a bloglines newsreader account, but I am not sure if I will use it that much. So far I haven't found a site that really interested me enough, I just don't surf the net too often.
Maybe if I play some more it will spark my interest......
Subscribing to MERLIN was easy enough, but I have found that I am not all that interesting in reading other people's blogs. (Okay, other than my coworkers, those are fun to read). ;-)
PS: It is now 2 weeks later and I have had time ot cruise more websites to look for RSS feeds.
Turns out I like it much more than originally thought - this might be the one thing I will use (and flickr, I love flickr).

Technology??
Technology interested I am only in small amounts. Unless of course you count the convenience of them. I could NOT imagine my life without e-mail, cell phones, washer & dryer, microwave.... well you get the point. I don't need an I-pod or MP 3 player - or one of these hideous big screen TV's that dominate a whole room.
Right now I am having a REALLY good time on Flickr, that's as much technology as I like for this week.

Starting my blog
Wow! I created my first blog! Not a very creative one, but I will work on it in the days to come. ;-)
